To whom it may concern
I could summarize this testimonial by saying great job all round, 10/10 thank you very much, however having been in business myself for 21 years and owned several companies in the past and having had to put up with many shoddy tradesmen I believe that G & M Loft Conversions deserve a little bit more. In my experience of tradesmen in the past, which is quite vast, I have never after completion felt that I have received such a sterling service that it has prompted me to write a letter such as this.
In total I received 5 quotations with regard to my loft conversion; all the other quotations were from loft conversion companies local to me. Out of the 4 that never got our job I am afraid 3 were ruled out quite early on due to their shoddy quotations, designs and lack of people skills on the initial site visit. One other company came close to impressing me on the initial site visit; however, the fact that he was a smaller company not being able to offer the back up and support I felt a company as large as G&M could offer meant G&M were getting the job. (A decision that should never be made lightly and a decision that I will never look back upon)
My first call to G&M was answered first time, by a professional in an office environment and not by a workman on site with machinery in the background, an appointment was made by one of the directors of G&M, that being Bill Martin. Bill arrived for his initial visit on time and looking smart and professional, there were certainly no heavy sales tactics whatsoever, the meeting took about 40 minutes and in that 40 minutes a lot of vital things were discussed that were not discussed by any of the other 4 companies that were allowed to price my conversion.
Regardless of price by the time Bill Martin had left I was almost certain that G&M were getting the job, of course the price had to compare with the rest within reason.
I was promised a written quotation within 3-4 days, that quotation was delivered by hand within the timescale, everything about the quotation and the drawings by far exceeded my expectations, and it has to be said made the other 4 look like part time loft converters. I was also surprised by the price within the estimate, out of the 5 quotations G&M ranked 3, therefore they were certainly not the most expensive, and certainly not the cheapest. However even at this early stage I would have been very happy to use G&M over the other 4 quotations regardless.
The time gap between giving G&M the go ahead and commencement was around 6-8 weeks due to local planning consents, in that time G&M kept in touch, arranged site plans etc. they did literally keep up their professionalism from start to finish.
The day prior to commencement I was introduced to the second company Director Dave Gilder, I am guessing he was to act as a site foreman and although was not on site every day (all other workman were on site every day) we did see Dave to talk to at least 3 times a week. Dave was very much like Bill meaning he was very approachable, professional and friendly. Both Dave and Bill make G&M lofts what they are today…an excellent reputable company.
The first day we were introduced to the main team doing our conversion that being Mark and Jason, from day one of meeting them I could see we were in for a smooth completion. Mark and Jason worked well as a team and to say they were hard working is an understatement.
Given the job in hand and the nature of it, it has to be said that the whole job was carried out in the tidiest fashion possible and throughout the disruption to our house and family was kept to a minimum.
As each day went on, we were encouraged to view what was going on and pick out anything we may have thought was not correct etc. Everything was carried out to plan with careful consideration, the only thing we asked to be moved was a plug socket and TV aerial and this was down to my mis-calculation to start with. (The movement of them items was not a problem at all)
Throughout the whole job as stated above I has sight of one of the Directors as least 3 times a week, and had email and phone contact with the other Director whenever it was needed. The job lasted around 7 weeks, throughout this time there were 1-2 occasions where I did need reassurance from the directors, only down to my naivety, however my questions were always answered promptly and with courtesy. Nothing was ever too much; G&M treated me as a customer should be treated.
G&M’s team consists of tradesmen that G&M use on every occasion, right down to those who put the scaffolding up, every single one tradesman that entered our property done so in a professional friendly manner.
The finished job far exceeded our expectations; we now have 2 wonderful sized bedrooms, a large shower room and a lovely galleried landing. I have no doubt that this has put great value onto my property far exceeding the actual expenditure involved.
Since the conversion has been completed we have had one very small issue, within 10 hours of reporting this issue (reported at 11pm one evening via email) we had the correct tradesman on site that rectified the problem immediately.
The fact that I am giving this testimonial speaks for itself, G&M are an excellent company with an excellent reputation, customer care is their speciality, and I have not only learned this myself but have heard it quite a few times within conversations from others…excellent.
From an extremely happy customer…
